Get Involved and Help Make a Difference! Do you want to help shape Thomaston’s future? It’s never too late to consider a run for office, fill vacancies, join the DTC and/or volunteer. The DTC works to recruit candidates and volunteers and raise money to successfully elect the Democratic Ticket to office. Our elected and appointed officials give of their time and effort to help make Thomaston the wonderful place we all have come to love. Wouldn’t you like to be a part of it all and help to assure that future generations continue to enjoy the uniqueness of our town? There are many ways to get involved both publically and behind the scenes, from writing letters and making phone calls to volunteering your time at our various events. The Thomaston DTC plays an integral part in identifying, endorsing and helping elect leaders to town, state and national offices. Candidates are endorsed for all town offices in odd-numbered years by a majority vote of registered Democrats present and voting at the party caucus. To qualify as a candidate, names are submitted to the nominating committee which serves as a candidate screening committee. Candidates can also be presented from the floor of the caucus. Delegates to conventions are selected by slate in even-numbered years. Delegates are selected for multi-town legislative seats and for conventions where gubernatorial, US Senate, Congress and state constitutional office candidates are selected.
