The best way to get involved in politics is to register and vote!  You can register by mail or in person at Town Hall, 158 Main Street.  Of course, we encourage you to register as a member of the Democratic Party.  Doing so grants you an additional right:  the ability to vote in primary elections and participate in nominating candidates of your choice for both elective and appointed positions.

You may register to vote in Thomaston provided you are a U.S. citizen and resident of Thomaston, are at least 17 years of age (though you cannot vote until you are 18 years of age on or before the next election) and have completed confinement and parole if previously convicted of a felony and have had your voting rights restored by the Registrar of Voters.

You can register to vote, (1) By Mail or (2) In Person by completing a mail-in registration form and delivering it to the Registrar of Voters or the Town Clerk (Town Hall, 158 Main Street, Thomaston, CT  06787).  There is no waiting period to be eligible to register to vote.  If you move, you may register to vote as soon as you move into your new home (if you have moved within Thomaston, notify either the Registrar of Voters or the Town Clerk of your new address in writing; if you have recently moved to Thomaston from another City/State, you must complete the Voter Registration process).

If mailing in your form, you should receive a confirmation notice in 2 to 3 weeks.  If you do not, please contact the Registrar or Town Clerk to verify your voting status.
